Well I had begun to type this post asking for Beta beginning date speculation...and as i went to go get a link from MMO-Champion about Boub's failed speculation.........look what I found-http://www.mmo-champion.com/index.php The Alpha has begun!

THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR-
-Beta scams-they are all false since the Alpha has just begun.
- Scams to get into the Alpha.The Alpha is friends and family of Blizz only so unless you fit into that catagorey-its a scam.

Yes, we can confirm that the Family & Friends phase of the testing process for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has begun. The closed beta test phase has not yet started, but we will provide updated information when it does.

This phase of testing is under a confidentiality agreement. As we get further along in the testing process and open it up to the public, the NDA will be lifted.

all i know is this "further along" better get here soon, 8 of my friends and i have frozen our accounts until cata, however there is another game that looks better. I want to play WoW but its boring as hell and i need to get my interest renewed. B4 the trolls start misquoting me and such, i know 9 people quitting doesnt do anything to blizzard's income, im simply saying for my own benefit i hope it gets here soon
