My iMac freezes upon load

When I start the game, and select my character and hit "enter world," either:

!.The blue bar loads all the way and freezes

or

2. allows me to enter the world only to freeze instantly

Could you help me out please. Thanks!

This sounds like the temp files are having some trouble loading. Let's refresh them and see how that works:

**Note: This is all one process. No need to test WoW after resetting the permissions.

Reset the permissions on your WoW folder:
1. Select the World of Warcraft folder
2. Press Command + I
3. In the World of Warcraft Info box, go to the Sharing & Permissions section
4. Click on the lock and unlock it, entering your admin password when prompted.
5. make sure you have Read & Write permissions
6. Click on the Burst icon (cog wheel) and select Apply to enclosed items

** If using Mac OS 10.4.11, just click on the Apply to Enclosed items button. (no cog wheel)

Reset the temp files:
1. Navigate to /Applications/World of Warcraft/
2. Delete the Cache folder.
3. Move Interface and WTF to the Desktop.
4. Launch WoW.

The information posted above is nearly 6 months old and probably outdated as we've come quite a ways since then.

Do me a favor & post your specs, please.

Click on Go then Utilities and open System Profiler.
  • Copy the information from the following sections:

  • Hardware (remove the Serial Number line)

  • Graphics/Displays

  • Software (remove the Computer Name and User Name lines)

    • Paste the above text along with a description of your issue to your post/thread.

    Also, if you look in WoW/Logs/Errors, you'll find any crash reports that have been created. If you could copy/paste the contents of the most recent log, that will help quite a bit. Thanks!
