You're called to action once again, to use your wits and strength, to compete for the ultimate prize. Your weapons? They seem to be but a musty tome and quill, but know that their power is far stronger than the armies of the Scourge, far craftier than the zerg Swarm, and far mightier than any demon from the Burning Hells. Ready your tools, scribe, and prepare for combat with the inky beast called fiction!

Enter a short story for the chance to win a free trip to Blizzard's headquarters in southern California! This contest is open to entrants from around the world and will be judged by Blizzard's very own writers and masters of lore. For more information, head to the contest page:

Q u o t e:
Is the story about anything in particular? Or does it have to be about, and comply to, Warcraft's lore, but other than that, you can go crazy?

The rules have more information on the details, but the stories should take place within any of the three franchise universes. (StarCraft, Diablo, or Warcraft)

Q u o t e:
So were the rules changed from the year prior? Because I ran the contest winner of 2009 through Microsoft word and ended up with 9,745 words which would obviously exceed the 7,500 cap that Blizzard has placed this year. If it was changed, could someone provide a reason why?

We're providing more time this year for writers to submit their pieces. We feel 7,500 words still allows writers enough space to create compelling stories and want to save enough time to carefully read them all!

You are not required to use canon characters in your story. Please feel free to use characters of your own creation.
