Question about Badges after Thursday

Hello, this will be the first Blizzcon I've had the pleasure of attending and as such I had a question I couldn't find the answer to through research.

It will be nearly impossible to make it into the LA area before the early badge pickup closes on Thursday. I know that badges are also available for pick up Friday morning from 8 to the con's opening, however these are just dates and don't really shed a light on what the reality would be like.

If I were to pick up badges Friday morning, what time should I really show up? Do people picking up badges before opening go through the main door/separate area? Separate lines? If you picked up a badge right before the show, does that mean you would then essentially be boned out of a spot with any sort of visibility for the opening ceremony? Or are there even any lines to get in? Heck I dknow...

Probably over-thinking all of this, but I would appreciate anyone's help in painting me a picture of what to expect.

This was certainly not always the case, but the last couple years have been much improved. :)

This year it should be as fast as always. I always recommend trying to pick up on Thursday, just because if there are any issues it gives that extra time to sort it out. Assuming you have everything in order and aren't expecting to have to explain any "Well my friend bought his ticket with my name which is my Mother's maiden name but that's not what's on my ID" type of stuff, then you should be fine on Friday morning.
