Cannot connect to news server and gray play

When I open up the Wow launcher I get a gray play button and then it says it cannot connect to news server. I tried opening up wow directly from my applications folder but I got an error and then the wow login screen came up black. My internet is working fine (obviously I'm typing this). I had a big problem with the last patch as well and had to download it at a friends house because I'm on a college campus. However when that happened I at least got past the launcher screen at school. I've never had this problem before, I'm assuming it's because I'm on campus but clarification would be nice. Thanks in advance.

If you're on a college campus, then that's probably why you're not getting the patch. With the new Launcher & patching process, you will need to use the Launcher rather than bypassing it.
However, if your school is blocking the download, you'll need to visit your off-campus friend. Either that, or you can try to convince your IT department to unblock it. |

More information is required here, Gyrò. Telling me "it doesn't work" is like telling your mechanic that your car's broken. Need symptoms before I can diagnose.
